Get your kids involved.
From the time my kids were born I educated them on what they were eating and why. The health benefits of an apple, why we make our own bread, how fast food isn’t the best food but can be used if there are no other options.
We were a military family and every time we got stationed in a new state, the first thing I would do, before we even arrive at our new house; was search for where I would be buying our meat and milk. I wanted my kids to have a full appreciation and love for where our food comes from. Every year we would go to a u-pick farm to pick all our own blueberries, strawberries, and whatever else was available in our area. We picked enough so that we could freeze a whole bunch. The stuff from the store never quite tastes the same. And the nutritional value isn’t there either.
We would drive up to 4 hours away to find milk that wasn’t processed…
We would find farms with grass fed chicken, beef and pork.
Eggs were hard to find, so if we got lucky we would stock up on them since they lasted so long in the refrigerator!
It was hard with us moving around several times a year, but every year the kids begged me to build them garden beds so they could plant seeds and grow vegetables. It takes a while and a bit of money to get the soil good enough to grow anything, and we were never in one place long enough to see a lot of benefit but it was still fun.
When we found our land here, the very first thing my kids did was plant gardens.
Now they are passing on their knowledge of Organic and non-GMO farming. They are passionate about it because I was.
The world needs less genetically modified food that our bodies can’t digest. It needs less lab grown meat. Actually there needs to be NO lab grown meat, it shouldn’t even be a thing.
The world needs more farmers, who are going to pay attention the terrain, care for the animals and rebuild the land.
